De Bruyne not pushing for Wolfsburg exit, says Hecking

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has stressed Kevin De Bruyne remains focused on the Bundesliga club and is not pushing for a transfer to Manchester City.

The Premier League outfit are keen to lure the 24-year-old away from his current club and have tabled an offer worth £45 million for the Belgium international.

Sporting director Klaus Allofs admitted earlier this week that City's interest has turned De Bruyne's head a bit, yet Hecking is adamant the attacking midfielder is still committed to Wolfsburg.

"There has not been an offer for him," Hecking told Sport Bild. "Kevin does not give the impression that he wants to leave Wolfsburg. He is giving his all in training.

"He is an integral part of my plans. I am convinced that he will only get better."

Nevertheless, Hecking is confident Wolfsburg have what it takes to cope with De Bruyne's departure if he were to leave this summer.

"It would be hard for any team to replace a player of Kevin's stature. But if he were to leave, the responsibility of replacing him should not rest on just one player's shoulders. Every departure is a chance for others.

"Our team is good enough, even if Kevin is obviously someone who makes the difference."
De Bruyne signed for Vfl from Chelsea 18 months ago and won the Bundesliga best player of the season award in 2014-15 as the club finished second behind Bayern Munich.
